what if shinies were considered bad in the wild since it meant they will get killed easier, which would explain why there are so hard to find…

Capone prided himself as a man with style. If he ever killed someone himself, or one of his henchmen killed an important person, hundreds of dollars worth of flowers was sent to the funeral. In one fight between Capone’s men and another gang, an innocent woman was shot, not fatally, and required hospital treatment. Capone personally paid for all the hospital fees. He also would pay for all children’s hospital bills when he visited.
Is is one of those episodes that was so important to the show. Not because it was major plot device but because it was an episode that, for the most part, was random yet hit every viewer right in the heart.
Why did no one remember her?
Does this episode show what humans are capable of or does this show a side of the doctor never witnessed before?
What scared groups of people are capable of really terrifies me.
This is one of the few episodes I flatly REFUSE to watch twice over because it scares the hell out of me.(I’m terrified of the Vashta Nerada but that is a different brand of scary and I’ll watch those again.)
It also makes me ashamed to be human.
It’s scary because you know this could totally happen in real life
This is a perfect example of Doctor Who at it’s best. There was very little special effects, it was in a confined space; so no faffing about going from place to place. Instead, it focused on something that is genuinely off-putting and makes us think.
The greatest Doctor Who episodes, the ones people time and time again say are their favourites, the ones they say are why they watch the show are ones like this, like the Weeping Angels, like the Gasmask Child, like the Vashta Nerada, because they play on our fears. And they don’t rely on special effects or great battles, they focus on incredible plot and tension.
Seriously, TPTB in Doctor Who need to go back and watch these episodes, because they have lost their ability to create something so simple and yet so complex and terrifying and entirely enthralling.
